About the conference

The RURALIZATION consortium is proud to announce the project final conference on April 20th, hosted by the European Committee of the Regions, in Brussels. Within the course of an on-site meeting with experts and stakeholders, main project outputs will be presented, considering all the lessons learned during the four-year duration of the project. These results aim at implementing policies to facilitate the repopulation of rural areas.

After the project presentation, potencial policies to fulfill rural dreams will be analysed during a workshop, followed by a “Rural Tales” session, where young farmers and entrepreneurs will share their own stories. For the final session of the conference, European Commission’s representatives, researchers and other experts will discuss about how specific European policies may contribute to the “ruralisation” process.

The H2020 RURALIZATION project is based around the idea that a process of ‘ruralisation’ may change development patterns in rural areas, thus overcoming population and economic decline, while generating new opportunities. In this sense, particular consideration was given to the assessment and development of novel instruments, strategies and policies to foster rural regeneration and generational renewal.

The European Committee of the Regions

The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is the voice of regions and cities in the European Union. It represents local and regional authorities across the European Union and advises on new laws that have an impact on regions and cities (70% of all EU legislation).

Due to the nature of the outputs of the RURALIZATION project as policy recommendations with a special focus on the regional level, the CoR was the ideal venue to host the final conference.
