About the conference

The RURALIZATION consortium is pleased to announce the final conference of the project, which will be held on 20 April 2023 in Brussels. Hosted by the European Committee of the Regions, this onsite meeting with experts and stakeholders will provide a space for presenting the main outputs of the project, considering all the lessons learned throughout the four years of the project.

After presenting the project, policy options to fulfil rural dreams will be analysed during an interactive workshop. This will be followed by a "Rural Tales" session in which young farmers and entrepreneurs will share their own stories. Finally, representatives of the European Commission, stakeholders and other experts will discuss how specific European policies could contribute to the ruralisation process.

The H2020 RURALIZATION project is built on the idea that a ruralisation process can change development patterns in rural areas and thereby tackle/address population and economic decline while creating new opportunities. Ultimately, the project's outcomes are expected to contribute to rural regeneration and generational renewal in Europe.

The European Committee of the Regions

The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is the voice of regions and cities in the European Union. It represents local and regional authorities across the European Union and advises on new laws that have an impact on regions and cities (70% of all EU legislation).

Due to the nature of the outputs of the RURALIZATION project as policy recommendations with a special focus on the regional level, the CoR was the ideal venue to host the final conference.
