9:00 am – 8:00 pm
26 February, 2022 – 6 March, 2022

In this complex health context, marked by uncertainties about the evolution of the health situation, we affirm our wish to hold the Paris International Agricultural Show in the best conditions. Wishing to meet the expectations of farmers, exhibitors, retailers and visitors.

Furthermore, Ceneca and Comexposium are currently working on the best solutions for welcoming visitors and exhibitors, along with our teams, working with dedication to hold the Show.

As owner and organizer, we are aware of our responsability, which goes far beyond the logistic aspect. Needless to say that the current sanitary guidelines will be applicable, which could evolve by February and if it does will accomodate accordingly to welcome everyone of you.

Considering all the elements underlines our currents thinking and motivates us to Build the Show and the « Concours Général Agricole ».

Therefore we are also choosing to postpone the press point that we had planned for the next Tuesday, on the January 11th, 2022.

The devotion we have for this extraordinary event is immense and we are aware of the part it plays not only in the Event Industry but also it’s importance for all the citizen of our country and our International Partners. It is truely a National pride.

Compared to the traditional methodology the new procedure for PECsoil includes scenarios for each of the three European zones. Furthermore, more processes are considered such as wash-off from crops and leaching to deeper soil layers. Finally, the PECsoil assessment is now embedded in a scheme of 4 different tiers including analytical and numerical models.

Learning Outcomes

Category: Other events8:30 am: Exploring new data and technologies to measure sustainability in agriculture

8:30 am – 10:30 am
4 March, 2022

This interactive workshop is organised in the framework of the MEF4CAP project, which seeks to harness the benefits of technology to meet the new data needs prompted by the reforms of the Common Agricultural Policy, Green Deal, Farm to Fork and Biodiversity Strategy. This requires new solutions which keep costs and administrative burden to a minimal, while optimising the value of the collected data. To deliver a roadmap for future monitoring solutions, the project wants to draw on the insights and perspectives of relevant stakeholders.

In this event, the MEF4CAP team presents the future data needs and potential sources identified in the first year of the project, and some of the promising ‘pathways’ linking monitoring needs with the technologies we are exploring. We also invite participants to share their feedback and own experiences. We are keen, for instance, to hear from farmers about their experience with using certain technologies (e.g. remote sensing) and from tech providers about the technologies expected to be rolled out widely in the next decade. Last but not least, we would like to learn more from policy makers and administrators on the data-related questions they are facing, such as what data they need to monitor key policy objectives with minimal cost and burden.

We hope you join us to explore these key challenges together.

Agenda:

9h30 Introduction to the MEF4CAP project: What is it about?

9h40 New indicators for new data needs

9h55 Promising technologies as new sources of data for monitoring and evaluation

10h10 Linking data needs and data sources – the potential of new technologies

10h35 Q&A with the audience

11h25 Final remarks

Category: Other events9:30 am: 1st meeting of the ENRD Thematic Group on Making the seven LEADER principles work in practice for all LAGs under the CAP Strategic Plans

9:30 am – 4:30 pm
8 March, 2022 – 10 March, 2022

The current transition period is a time when Member States continue with the implementation of LEADER under the 2014-2022 programming period rules. At the same time, Member States are finalising their CAP Strategic Plans, and starting to design national implementing rules, procedures, and guidance for the selection of LAGs and the selection and implementation of local development strategies.

Lessons learnt from LEADER work carried out during recent years of the 2014-2022 programming period by the ENRD Contact Point indicate that the full application of the seven key principles of LEADER by all LAGs remains challenging (and challenged) whereas it is in fact the main source of LEADER’s added value.

The LEADER Thematic Group ‘Making the seven LEADER principles work in practice for all LAGs under the CAP Strategic Plans’ is based around each of the seven LEADER principles as defined in legislation (Art 31.2. of Regulation (EU) 1060/2021). These are:

  • (1) appropriate territorial level (subregional)
  • (2) bottom-up + (3) balanced/inclusive partnership of public and private local socio-economic interests
  • (4) strategies
  • (5) networking, (6) innovative features in the local context, and (7) cooperation with other territorial actors

This is the first meeting of the Thematic Group (TG), which is organised with the ambition to facilitate discussion and exchanges between the TG members for a common understanding of the seven LEADER principles, about the factors ‘blocking’ and ‘conducive’ to this and relevant Member State experiences related to the practical implementation of the seven LEADER principles.

Aims of the meeting

  • To achieve a common and clear understanding of each of the seven LEADER principles;
  • To discuss what qualifies as ‘non-implementation’ of the seven LEADER principles, and what are the key factors affecting (‘blocking’ and conducive to) the application of the seven LEADER principles in practice;
  • To share and discuss relevant Member State experiences in relation supporting the full application of the seven LEADER principles; and
  • To agree on the working method of the Thematic Group and key steps of the work leading up to the 2nd TG meeting and completion of recommendations.

Category: Other events10:00 am: 1st meeting of the ENRD Thematic Group on Sustainability Agreements in the agri-food supply chain

10:00 am – 11:00 am
17 March, 2022

The new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) for the period 2023-2027 supports efforts to increase sustainability in the production and supply of agricultural products through amended support mechanisms and market rules. Collective initiatives leading to agreements between actors in the agri-food supply chain have the potential to make a significant contribution to a sustainable food system, ensuring that actors in the food value chain (vertically or horizontally) collaborate effectively to deliver agreed outcomes and ultimately contribute to the achievement of the desired goals. For this reason, the new CAP contains an antitrust derogation to the prohibition of anti-competitive agreements. This derogation does not encompass all possible areas of collective sustainability initiatives and stakeholders have the possibility to cooperate on other aspects of sustainability outside of the derogation’s scope of application under the regime of general competition rules.

Whatever their objectives, collective sustainability initiatives raise a number of challenges in terms of governance, design of objectives and standards, possible public support, etc. The future development of such initiatives depends on the knowledge and ability of stakeholders to manage these challenges.

This is the first meeting of the ENRD Thematic Group (TG) on Sustainability Agreements, which is launched with the ambition to provide the space for exchanges on good practices around collective actions on sustainability agreements and sustainable actions more generally.

Aims of the meeting

  • To take stock of the new regulatory framework for sustainability agreements and implications for business, the environment, and the consumer.
  • To understand how sustainability agreements/collective actions on sustainability are pursued through the food value chain.
  • Begin to identify the key enabling conditions and barriers to the development and implementation of sustainability agreements.

Following on from the extraordinary video conference held on 2 March, EU agriculture ministers will once again exchange views on the current situation of the agri-food market in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The discussion is likely to focus on identifying measures to guarantee food security in the EU, both in the immediate aftermath of the invasion and from a longer-term perspective. The likely impact of the war on food supplies in non-EU countries may also be considered.
